Hi everyone! *waves*
We get asked a lot of questions about setting up the user profiles, bio’s, and how to get their image to display in their author box at the bottom of this post. This quick post is going to show you exactly where to find your user profile, and what you need to fill out!
Step 1: Finding the User Profile
You must first be logged into the website. Your username and password is in the welcome contributor email we sent you (the one where you found the link to this page!)
In the top right hand corner of your screen you’ll see something like this (it probably wont have your picture like mine does though):
Hover your mouse over your name, and when the drop down menu appears click on “Edit My Profile”. Once you are in your profile, feel free to change your password if you would like. You can pick your own or have WordPress generate one for you. Make sure you save your username and password for safe keeping! If you ever forget your password or have problems logging in, Amy or Jenn can reset it for you.
Step 2: Filling Out Your Information
Scroll down to the “About Yourself” section. This is where you will fill out a short bio about yourself, and add your profile picture.
The profile picture is completely optional, but highly recommended (Our readers want to see your beautiful face!). To add your profile picture you must sign up for an account on www.gravatar.com. You can also link your current WordPress account (if you blog elsewhere and have an account for that) and it should pull up your current image for that. See step 5 for this.
Step 3: Fill in Your Social Media/Website Information
Once you’ve typed up your bio and added your profile picture, scroll down to the “Fancier Author Box User Details”. This is where you want to fill in all of your social media profiles you would like shared with our readers, as well as your blog or business link as well.
*Make sure you leave the box for “Display Fancier Author Box” UNchecked!
Step 4: Uncheck Author Boxes
Scroll down a little further to find the “Author Box” and make sure you leave both boxes unchecked. We do not use this author box since we have the Fancier Author Box plugin installed.
Step 5: Link to Your Current WordPress Account
This step is completely optional. If you already have a wordpress.com account (or if you want to create one) you can link your Planner Squad account with it! Look for “Single Sign On” and click on the “Link account with WordPress.com” button.
That’s it! When everything is set up properly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “update profile to save. You will then be ready to start on your draft! Refer to your email to see what action you should take next.
